Great Southern Fuels is proud to be recognised among the supporters of Lions Cancer Institute (WA) Inc., whose work continues to make a meaningful difference across regional Western Australia.

In the April 2026 Lions Cancer Institute WA newsletter, Great Southern Fuels was featured alongside other regional and industry supporters helping the Institute deliver important community programs, including free skin cancer screening, outreach, education and family-focused support initiatives.

The newsletter highlighted the Institute’s ongoing Community Skin Cancer Screening Program, which travels across Western Australia to improve access to early skin cancer awareness in regional and remote communities. Recent screening locations included Dowerin, Wyalkatchem, Southern Cross, Merredin, Kalgoorlie and Menzies.

Across March and April, the program screened 213 people, with 50 participants recommended to seek further investigation. The newsletter also reported that 62 people had never been screened before, showing the importance of taking these services directly to communities where access to regular checks may be limited.
The Kalgoorlie screening event alone involved 111 participants, with the team travelling 650 kilometres to provide the service. For 54 people, it was their first skin cancer screening.

The newsletter also featured the Christmas 2025 Children’s Big Day Out, held at Orana Cinemas in Kalgoorlie, where more than 200 children and carers enjoyed drinks, popcorn and a movie as part of a special community outing. Great Southern Fuels is pleased to support organisations that give back to regional communities and help improve access to important services across Western Australia.

As a proudly regional business, we understand the distances involved in delivering services across WA and the value of supporting programs that reach people where they live and work. We thank Lions Cancer Institute WA and its volunteers for their continued work in cancer prevention, screening, education, research and community support.
